Magma Essentials: Hatha Yoga.

I teach straight forward Hatha Yoga concentrating on the principles of breathing, asanas, and relaxation. Today more people are beginning to realise and appreciate the value of hatha yoga as a method of exercising the body. Hatha Yoga makes good use of the breath which in turn helps to calm and quiet the body encouraging relaxation and relief from stress and tension and give the body some undivided attention.

Yoga is not just a routine of exercises but something more complete. It has the ability to challenge the body building suppleness, flexibility, and stamina. At the same time it can quieten and focus the mind, thereby harmoniously unifying a mental and physical fitness to bring about a balance of mind body and soul.

This union is what distinguishes Hatha Yoga from other forms of sport. The asanas (postures) are synchronised with the breath which is used to move in and out of positions. While the positions are held, the mind is focused on the smooth, rhythmic flow of the breath.
